Central And Southern Italy

Following is a suggestion for a 10-day exploration of Italy for two persons, offering a luxurious itinerary that may be tailored to suit guests’ schedules and interests.

DAY 1:

Welcome to Rome!

After arriving to Rome’s airport in the morning, guests will be collected by a private driver for a transfer to their hotel in central Rome. After checking in their hotel and having some time to settle in, guests will be collected by a driving guide to explore Rome in a private vehicle. Guests will enjoy a nice overview of the Eternal City whilst also receiving suggestions for local restaurants for dinner. The driver will return guests to the hotel (or other requested location) at the conclusion of the tour, just in time to go for dinner in one of the many Roman restaurants.

DAY 2:

The splendors of Rome including the Colosseum, Vatican Museum and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

The day commences with guests being met by a driver and local guide, who will be at their service for the entire day. The morning will focus on Ancient Rome and the spectacular Colosseum. Guests will be accompanied to the Vatican area for a small-group exploration of the underground area of St. Peter’s Tomb at 11.20 am. A lunch break is then scheduled for 1.00 pm. Pre-reserved entrance to the Vatican Museum will be organized for 2.00 pm, allowing time to explore the vast Vatican collection plus Saint Peter’s Basilica with your knowledgeable guide. Guests will be returned to the hotel or other location for an evening and dinner at leisure.

DAY 3:

Positano on the Amalfi Coast, with a stop in Pompeii along the way.

After breakfast and checkout from the hotel, the driver will collect guests for the journey south. Arrival in Pompeii is estimated for around 1.00 pm, just in time to enjoy a light lunch. A local archeological guide will meet guests at 2.00 pm for a 2-hour guided tour of this famous ancient Roman city. Guests will then meet up with the driver to continue the pleasant drive towards the Amalfi Coast, with arrival in the lush sea-side village of Positano foreseen at around 5.00 pm. Guests will be free to wander through the area and enjoy dinner in one of the local restaurants on their own.

DAY 4:

Private boat excursion to the Island of Capri

In the morning, guests will be met at the hotel by a private driver for a journey to Sorrento, where they will embark on a private boat tour in a traditional Gozzo Sorrentino. The English-speaking skipper will take guests around the island of Capri, passing the famed Faraglioni Rocks and taking in splendid views of the Marina Piccola. This Capri day tour includes visiting the fascinating Grottos located around the island before a stop at the famous beach harbor of Marina Grande. Guests will then have free time on Capri island to explore the luxury shops, take in spectacular views or perhaps enjoy a glass of wine in one of the picturesque piazzas on the island favored by the well-to-do. The return to Positano will be in the early evening, with guests then being free to enjoy their evening and dinner on their own.

DAY 5:

A splendid day-long exploration of the Amalfi Coast with a private driver.

On a day that can be tailored according to interests, the private driver will meet guests at the hotel in the early morning for this wonderful excursion. After a stop in Ravello, the gem of the Amalfi coastline, guests may choose to visit the town of Amalfi, famed for its bejeweled Cathedral in what was one of the four important maritime Republics of the peninsula. If desired, the tour may continue along the spectacular windy road leading to the town of Vietri, a haven for traditional ceramics. There is also time for a stop to learn about (and taste) limoncello, the much-loved lemon liqueur from the area. The evening (and dinner) will be spent at guests’ own leisure in Positano.

DAY 6:

A winery visit with lunch near the Vesuvio volcano en-route to Assisi.

After a relaxing breakfast and hotel checkout, a private driver will collect guests for a picturesque drive to a winery at the base of Mount Vesuvius. This is an exceptional winery creating a unique blend that could rival the Chianti greats. Guests will experience a tour of the winery before being served a light lunch of regional specialties. The journey then continues north to the Umbria region. A stop at an olive oil production facility in Trevi will be scheduled to allow guests to discover one of Italy’s greatest traditions. This will be followed by a short drive to the final destination of the day: Assisi. This small and charming Medieval hamlet was the birth place of Saint Francis. After hotel check-in, guests will be free to dine and explore Assisi at their leisure.

DAY 7:

The splendid hilltop towns of Umbria.

A morning exploration of Assisi will include the imposing Roman Fort and the splendors of the Cathedral of San Rufino and the Basilica of Saint Claire. In the late morning, guests will be driven to visit a Sagrantino Winery producing a superb full-bodied Umbrian red wine. The next stop will be Montefalco, a quaint village offering splendid views over the lush countryside. Lunch shall be enjoyed here, with plenty of regional delights to savor. Additional small towns in the area will be explored in the afternoon, such as the important Roman settlements of Bevagna and/or Spello, a Medieval village or sites sacred to the life of Saint Francis including the Eremo, San Damiano and Porziuncola. Guests will be returned back to Assisi to enjoy dinner and their evening at leisure.

DAY 8:

Assisi and Beyond

Following check-out, will be a visit to additional sites in Assisi such as the Basilica of Saint Francis. Guests will then be driven past the shimmering Lake Trasimeno to Cortona on Tuscany’s eastern edge. Lunch will be enjoyed in a selected trattoria in this charming Etruscan town, made famous by the book Under the Tuscan Sun. After a short drive through the splendid Tuscan countryside, guests will arrive in Florence in the late afternoon. The evening will allow guests the opportunity to dine and explore the Renaissance city as they wish.

DAY 9:

Finally… Florence!

A full day will be spent in the stunning city of Florence. In the morning, guests will enjoy a tailored tour of Florence in the company of an expert private guide to visit wondrous sites such as the Ferragamo museum or the newly remodeled Duomo Museum. In the early afternoon, a group visit to Palazzo Vecchio’s secret rooms can be organized, including Bianca Cappella’s private room that is accessed through a secret door in the Map Room. Guests will then pass a splendid afternoon enjoying a private hands-on cooking experience to prepare delights such as hand-made pasta with a perfectly-paired sauce, traditional white bean and barley soup or roasted Florentine pork loin plus a scrumptious dessert such as tiramisu or chocolate mousse, all of course served with great local wine. The overnight stay in Florence will be in a charming local hotel.

DAY 10:


After having accumulated memories to last a lifetime, guests will check out of their hotel before having final transportation to the Florence airport or other destination upon request. This marks the end of this fabulous Italy sojourn… until next time!

Central & Northern Italy

Our suggestion for a splendid 12-day tour throughout Central and Northern Italy, perfect for a family of 3-5 persons.

DAY 1:

Arrival in Florence

Guests will check in to their hotel in the historical city center of Florence before having the afternoon and evening to settle in to the splendid capital city of Tuscany.

DAY 2:

Sightseeing in Florence

A private tour guide will await guests for a private tour of the highlights of Florence. A visit to see Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia is also included. Over four hours, the historical center will come to life, with visits to the Duomo (Cathedral), Baptistery, and Giotto’s Bell Tower, along with the governmental center of Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Piazzale degli Uffizi. Depending on time and personal interests, guests will be able to visit sites such as the Piazza della Repubblica, Palazzo Strozzi, Dante’s neighborhood and the Ponte Vecchio. Entry to the Santa Croce Basilica and the nearby historic leather factory is also possible upon request. In the afternoon, guests will be able to explore other sites at their own leisure such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Piazzale Michelangelo terrace overlooking the city or perhaps enjoy the great shopping to be had in the city. Guests then dine at their own leisure before retiring to their centrally-located hotel.

DAY 3:

A taste of Emilia Romagna – Ferrari and Balsamic Vinegar

After meeting a private driver in Florence, guests will be taken on a pleasant drive to Maranello in the Emilia Romagna region. Here will be a great change of pace, with the opportunity to have the ride of a lifetime. Over around 65 Km, up to four persons may drive in four separate cars including a Lamborghini, Ferrari California, Ferrari 458 and Ferrari 430. From the fast and furious to slow and luxurious, guests will next visit a nearby traditional Balsamic Vinegar producer close to Modena. A relaxing lunch of regional delights will follow. In the afternoon, guests will be taken to the Ferrari Factory to visit the Formula 1 Museum or the Ferrari Museum. This day-tour will then conclude back in Florence in the late afternoon, leaving guests free to enjoy dinner and their evening alone to experience more of Florence.

DAY 4:

A Tuscan exploration – Montepulciano and Pienza

A private driver will collect guests from their hotel in the morning to commence a day in the countryside. The first stop will be the picturesque Pienza, planned as an ideal Renaissance town. The town is replete with traditional food stores selling the famed local cured meats and cheeses. Guests will discover more of these local delights after a short transfer to a working organic cheese farm. Here, lunch will be enjoyed al fresco and include the special aged cheeses produced on-site. The afternoon will include a visit to Montepulciano, one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany, famous for its ancient wine cellars and its much-loved Nobile wine (as well as being the setting for certain scenes in the ‘Twilight’ movie). No visit to Montepulciano would be complete without visiting a winery for a tasting of the area’s much-loved wine. In the late afternoon, guests will enjoy a relaxing drive back to Florence, where they will have dinner and the evening at their leisure in Florence.

DAY 5:

A hands-on cooking class before a stay in the Tuscan countryside

After checking out of their hotel in the morning, guests will have the culinary experience of a lifetime with a hands-on cooking class in Florence. In a professional kitchen in Florence or surrounds, guests will discover the secrets to making delectable Tuscan cuisine in a range of dishes that will become their lunch, served with regional wine. In the afternoon, guests will be transferred to a quaint countryside hotel located on the outskirts of Siena where they will then be free to dine and enjoy their evening in this charming Tuscan hamlet.

DAY 6:

San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Siena and a Chianti Winery

In morning, a private driver will take guests to Monteriggioni, a charming 13th century fort whose defensive walls still stand strong. This shall be followed by a visit to San Gimignano, the famous Medieval town replete with medieval towers (and delicious gelato!). After a wine tasting at an exclusive Chianti winery, guests will be served a traditional lunch in an exquisite setting. After returning to their accommodation in the early afternoon to rest and freshen up, guests will be collected for an evening transfer to Siena. Famous for the Palio horse race and its stunning streets and squares, guests will be able to have dinner at their own leisure before being returned to the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 7:

South of Siena – Montalcino, Sant’Antimo and San Quirico D’Orcia

8-10 hours will be dedicated to exploring splendid Abbey of Sant’Antimo, the San Quirico d’Orcia area and Montalcino, famed for Italy’s much-loved Brunello wine – all in the company of a private driver. Guests will enjoy free time to explore both San Quirico d’Orcia and Montalcino. Medieval villages, the prior along the Via Francigena pathway that led pilgrims to Rome and the latter a historic fortified town. This splendid day out in Tuscany will include time for lunch in Montalcino before visiting two Brunello wineries for wine tastings. There will also be time to take in the mystic atmosphere of the stately Romanesque Abbey of Sant’Antimo. The day will conclude with a splendid drive back to the hotel in time to relax before dinner at guests’ leisure. Overnight.

DAY 8:

Drive to North Lake Como

After a morning checkout of the hotel, guests will depart for the Lake Como area via private transfer. About 4.5 hours will be passed crossing the picturesque lands, with a stop for lunch along the way near the gastronomic heaven of Reggio Emilia. After checking in to a hotel in the area, guess will be free to explore the stunning surrounds, enjoy a meal by the lake and rest in their splendid resort and spa hotel.

DAY 9:

Choose your own adventure on (or over!) the Lake

A private driver and guide will be at guests’ disposal for 8 hours to facilitate individually-selected activities in the nearby area. Options include a private boat ride to explore the amazing countryside Villas from the vantage point of the water, including a stop to visit the historic Villa di Balbianello. Another option would be a private 30 minute airplane ride over the lake. Guests may enjoy an aperitif or evening meal at the historic Villa d’Este upon request. At the conclusion of this exhilarating day, guests will be returned to their deluxe hotel for the evening.

DAY 10:

Lake Como exploration

This splendid day out is comprised of a 10-hour excursion around the Lake Como area. Long the play area of the rich and famous, guests will be able to personalize the itinerary according to their interests. With all transportation services with driver and guide on hand, guests can choose to visit Cernobbio and/or Tremezzo, take a ferry to Bellagio, and perhaps have lunch in a lakeside trattoria. After a late-afternoon return to the hotel, guests will have the evening to dine and relax at will.

DAY 11:

Making Memories in Milan

After a late morning check-out, a private driver will transfer guests to Milan. Once checked in to their centrally-located hotel, guests will be free to explore the city or partake in some shopping in one of Italy’s best fashion hubs. In addition to shopping, a day at leisure in Milan may also include visiting the breathtaking Cathedral, Opera House and other historic sites. A private expert tour guide can also be arranged upon request. We would also be happy to provide suggestions for guests to enjoy dinner before the overnight stay in their hotel in Milan.

DAY 12:

Departure Day

A private transfer can be arrange from the Milan hotel to the Airport or other location upon request to mark the end of guests’ time with us.

Tuscan Treasures

A 7-day journey throughout the jewel of Italy for a group of around ten persons, including a diamond of its own – a special Vow Renewal Dinner.

DAY 1:

Benvenuto in Florence

Guests will be met at the Florence airport (or other arrival point upon request) for a private transfer to their accommodation in the historical center of Florence. In the early evening, after having time to relax and settle in, guests will enjoy a Signature Italy welcome cocktail before being walked to a restaurant where dinner reservations will have been made. Guests will be then be free to spend their first evening in Florence at leisure.

DAY 2:

A Florence immersion

In the morning, a private tour guide will meet guests at the hotel for a guided tour of Florence city. History will come to life as guests visit Il Duomo – Florence’s stunning Cathedral, with its Bell Tower, Baptistery and Brunelleschi’s Dome. Next will be the Governmental center, including the Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Guests will enjoy pre-reserved entry to the Accademia Museum, home to 6 unfinished statues attributed to the great Michelangelo and his great masterpiece, the David. Next comes another of Italy’s greatest treasures: its cuisine. Guests will be led through the San Lorenzo Food Market for private exclusive product tastings to make up a unique and delicious lunch. In the afternoon, the tour of Florence will continue with a focus on Florence’s famous artisans through a visit to a stone inlay workshop and historic leather factory as well as seeing the marble creations on the stunning Santa Croce basilica. A perfume experience is also available upon requests. Guests will then have the evening free to enjoy dinner, with reservations being made for the group in town, and another lovely evening in Florence.

DAY 3:

Shopping in Florence

In accordance with guests’ preferences, a private tour guide will lead the group to some of the best stores in Florence. The vast range of options includes historic artisan workshops where items have been handcrafted for centuries, small boutiques creating unique leather bags and gloves, designer clothing in one of Italy’s top fashion cities, resplendent jewelry and bijoux, antique dealers peddling historic items, and more. Along the way, guests may pass the church of Santo Spirito, Palazzo Pitti, and the magnificent palaces lining noble streets. The tour will conclude in time for guests to lunch on their own before having free time for further shopping or other activities. Dinner reservations will be made at a traditional restaurant just a short and pleasant stroll from the hotel for guests to dine on their own before retiring for the night.

DAY 4:

Artistic Florence and picturesque Tuscan countryside

After checking out of their hotel, guests will meet a private tour guide to visit the Uffizi Gallery and explore the amazing collection of Renaissance master paintings. In the meanwhile, a private driver will collect the guests’ luggage and await guests at the end of the Uffizi visit to travel to a special countryside venue for lunch in the outskirts of Florence – a farmhouse and winery. After a tour of the cellar and traditional lunch, guests will be taken to a countryside hotel where they will have free time to enjoy the evening and dine at their own leisure in the stunning hamlet of Bagno Vignoni.

DAY 5:

Half Day Exploration – Vow Renewal Dinner

A private driver will await guests in the morning for an exploration of the area around Montalcino. A visit to the Romanesque Abbazia di Sant’Antimo will be included, along with a visit to a Brunello winery for a wine tasting of the King of Tuscan reds. Guests will be free to enjoy lunch in Montalcino before being collected in the early afternoon for a return transfer to the hotel. There will be time for a siesta and to enjoy the extensive grounds, thermal water pool, spa and massage services at the hotel. The evening will include a very special dinner where guests may renew their vows before an overnight stay in Bagno Vignoni.

DAY 6:

The exceptional beauty of Val d’Orcia

This day will feature a private driver to accompany guests on a full-day exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage area of Val d’Orcia. The first stop will be a visit to Montepulciano to visit an exclusive winery and enjoy a tasting of their top Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine. Guests will then savor a traditional lunch al fresco at a quaint farmhouse. The afternoon will include a stop in the ideal Renaissance city of Pienza, with its stately palaces and architecture that embraces the picturesque landscape in the surrounds. After returning to the hotel in the late afternoon, guests will be free to enjoy their dinner on own before the final overnight stay in Bagno Vignoni.

DAY 7:

Final Transfers to Airport

In the morning, guests will check out of the hotel before having the option of a private transfer to Florence airport (or other destination upon request) to conclude the holiday of a lifetime.
